The Type of Balancing Valve
During commissioning of heating and cooling systems, hydraulic balance is often achieved using balancing valves. Two types of these valves exist: static and dynamic balancing valves. Static balancing valves serve as a permanent resistance, built into the system. The settings for these valves must therefore be calculated and adjusted accurately, as changing just one of them in the system could change the flow through all other valves.
Dynamic balancing valves work as flow limiters. They are set to a desired flow rate and ensure that a larger flow rate does not take place. If the pressure in front of the valve increases, it will close some more, so the pressure loss across the valve becomes correspondingly higher. This maintains the desired flow rate in the specific path. The inlet pressure for a dynamic balancing valve needs to be higher than a certain limit for it to operate properly. This means that the resistance at the most distant valve cannot be close to zero, as is the case with static valves.
Balancing valves are available from numerous manufacturers. Some of these provide electronic measurement equipment that allows measuring the flow through their valves. This is done by measuring the pressure loss across the valve and calculating the flow according to the kv-value of the present position of the valve.
What Properties Of Balancing Valve In Pipe Network
(1) Flow regulation and hydraulic balance
By rotating the handwheel, the valve’s opening can be read, and the flow distribution and hydraulic balance between the branches can be effectively controlled.
(2) Flow measurement
There is a pressure hole on the balance valve, through which the pressure drop value can be measured. According to the performance curve, the corresponding flow can be obtained and the flow value can be read out directly by the internal intelligent electronic differential pressure flowmeter.
(3) Cut-off effect
The valve can be completely closed to play the role of a globe valve.
(4) Pollutant discharge effect
A sewage outlet is arranged on the balance valve. Open the sewage outlet to remove the water storage capacity of the pipeline.
How To Install Balancing Valve
1. Balance valve maybe installed in either the return line or the supply line at only one location per loop. It is recommended to install the balance valve in the return water line with low water temperature.
2.The balance valve on the main pipe should be installed at the outlet direction of the water pump.
3.Balance valve can be installed horizontally or vertically.
4. The direction of medium flow should be consistent with the direction marked on the valve body.
5.The opening indicator number on the handle should be in the direction visible to the debugging personnel to facilitate debugging. There should be no obstacles in front of the measuring joint on the valve body in case the debugging instrument cannot be connected during debugging. when installed in the ceiling, the handle should be facing down.
